The project Ecoplasbrick - Innovative recycled plastic based panels for building field, aims at developing a panel by using mixed plastic waste as the core and gres face-sheet on both sides. Part of the project is also the commercial side of the product, by exploring market opportunity in Europe.
The project goal is the construction of the panel, which will be obtained using the compression moulding process tested during the preparatory research activities. The advantages of such a panel are clear: the aesthetical impact is good because the plastic waste component is hidden between two skins, and its mechanical bending properties are determined only by the skin material and the panel thickness (and not influenced by the recycled plastic core). Possible application can be as a floating floor and buildings envelopes.
